Anthony Liftgates don't break often, but even the most rugged parts don't last forever. Damage or normal wear and tear can interfere with normal liftgate operation. Platform will not close completely.  

Possible Cause #1 Power unit relief valve set too low on liftgate.
Action -

Loosen lock nut and turn allen screw clockwise to increase pressure. Turn in all the way, then back out one full turn, retighten lock nut, test liftgate with load. If liftgate performs well, set pump pressure according to factory settings.

 

(Diagnosis time -15 minutes / Repair time - 1/2 hr. ).

Part Numbers - N/A
Possible Cause #2 Twisted platform hinge pin (hex pin).
Action - Check to see if twisted by lowering platform below column to see 'hex' pin. Check alignment of 'hex' pin and lower cylinder pin, should be in between the 8 o’clock and 9 o’clock position with platform open If not, replace by sawing pin in half and removing pin and bushings. Replace 'hex' pin and both 'hex' bushings.

(Diagnosis time - 10 minutes / Repair time - 2 hrs.).

(1) A-176457 - "HEX" pin
(1) A-176481 - Hex bushing - long
(1) A-176482 - Hex bushing - short
Possible Cause #3 Closure cylinder defective.
Action - Repack or replace cylinder.

(Diagnosis time - 15 minutes / repair time 1 hr.).
(If under warranty, replace cylinder DO NOT repack or dismantle).
